Download and play the Donald Duck - Maui Mallard In Cold Shadow (EU) ROM using your favorite SNES emulator on your computer or phone.
Donald in Maui Mallard, also known as Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow is one of the lesser known action games. It was originally released in 1995 for the in Europe and Brazil and later ported to the (with different level designs and mechanics)and PC (based on the Brazilian version and featured an ).It isn't known if Maui Mallard, the detective who is also a ninja, is an version of Donald, his past self or somebody completely unrelated - but surely he'd like to quit his danguerous supernatural job and live a simpler life.
However, he's called for one last mission: to search and find the missing idol statue of Shabuhm Shabuhm before the island it protects explodes. That won't be easy since. Gameplay is divided between Maui's two forms. Normally he's equipped with a '1935 Westchester Bug Gun', a gun that shoots bugs. Besides the normal shot, there are three other types that can be mixed into more powerful attacks. And when Maui finds obstacles he can't get through, he can turn into Cold Shadow, a ninja who uses a staff to attack enemies with combos, swing over pits and move at high speeds over lava surfaces.Although a sequel and a cartoon were planned, the game didn't do well at market.
They even removed Donald's name from the game in later versions, likely due to unease over associating a 'kid friendly' character with a. This game contains examples of:.: Maui's gun is loaded with what look like magical beetles or roaches.: In the Genesis version, there are TNT barrels in the second part of stage 6. When they explode, they start destroying the ship's hull and will suck Maui into the background if he doesn't run away. In the SNES version, the explosion happens automatically when the level starts and is slower.: In the screen of the SNES version, the Game Over letters drop on Maui's foot, and he jumps around in pain.: The manual describes the story, controls, items and levels from Maui's point of view. In fact, many things Maui says in the manual It's rather sad to read the manual and learn, among other things, that this game is supposed to be chapter 35 of the story.: Ying Yang coins respawn once your Ying Yang power runs low and are often set close to Checkpoints. Puzzles or bosses that require specific ammo to beat will have it respawn nearby.: Fire Spirits will produce small fiery bats when they're hit.
Luckily, if you strike them down with the staff they'll only releaese one bat before vanishing.: Once you clear an act in the SNES version, you'll lose every special weapon you had. This forces the players to battle the bosses with the normal gun.: Cold Shadow's crouch pose invokes this with his staff.: The Mojo Witch Doctor, the one who stole the idol in the first place.: Supposedly Hernae, since despite her initial hostility she eventually accepts Maui and helps him out.: The game has various disturbing settings and characters that nevertheless have a comical aspect to them. Even the scary zombies who let out a ghostly yell as they crawl out of the ground and melt upon taking damage start dragging their asses behind them.: Cold Shadow wears a blindfold, which he only pulls off for comical effect in his crouching animation.: In the 5th and 6th stages you're unable to transform into a ninja. Reversed for the fight, where you're stripped of all your bugs and pistol.: Babaluau Baby. In the Genesis version, it is a rather hard where Maui is on a unicycle and must avoid losing his powerups. There are no dangers in the SNES version, but he has to do a lot of exploring to find some fireworks and beat the level.: Averted in stage 7.
You'll get a + level instead!.: The final stage, the Mojo Stronghold, is essentially one big arena where you have to reach the and confront him.: A volcano appears in the background of the first level. Maui is thrown inside it for the fourth level, which ends with an eruption.: The Ninja Clones in the boss battle of stage 2 wear different colors, depending on their powers.: Cold Shadow can peform combos. In the Genesis version he needs to collect red yin yang coins to accumulate them and in the SNES version, they use his normal yin yang meter.: You lose all of your collected ammo and upon a single death.: Let's see. In this game Donald has a gun, can turn into a ninja, fights monsters in creepy levels, gets dragged to Hell when he dies.: After Maui defeats the muddrake army, an alliance between them is forged.: In this game's, He is shown in the continue screen, but will be in the game over sequence.: At first, Hernae doesn't want Maui's help and even tries to kill him near the end of the second stage (the part with the fireball chase). By the finale, she's fully supportive of him and gives him the power to become a ninja without Yin-Yang coins.: They just set how much health and how many lives and continues you start with.: Downplayed in the fight against the ninja clones.
Sometimes two will spawn at once but one of them is a kind of decoy that will die in a single hit.: You fight a bunch of ninja clones in stage 2, an army of muddrakes in stage 3 and the final boss in this way.: In some versions, the Witch Doctor will appear in the beginning of the 2nd stage and use his powers on Maui to create an army of Ninja clones.: Everyone's favorite hothead, Donald Duck (oh, Maui Mallard), gets when a life is lost. When out of lives, he uses his pistol to blast his way out to the continue screen.: Happens in the second part of Realm of the Dead and in one part of stage 5 in the SNES version.: Maui Mallard is one of.: How you defeat the Frog God. It's tricky both because you're not on solid ground and because the Boss will release damaging belch clouds after every succesful hit. In the SNES version this is subverted, you just have to feed it Muddrakes until he's full.: The final battle takes place on some floating stone platforms adorned with pearls in the heart of a storm over the island. In the PC version the storm is even red-colored.: Duckman, actually. It's the boss of stage 6, a sunken pirate ship. Where you don't get to pit ninja Cold Shadow against it.
What a waste of a 'Ninjas Vs. Pirates' opportunity!.: The bosses of level 4 and 6. The former is a stone-idol thing that infests a volcano, the latter is the ghost captain of the Flying Duckman.: Before Donald gets into the 'Sea Hag' boat to go to the boss fight in stage 6, a a female duck appears on the boat with wiggling breasts. Also Hernae the apprentice shamaness, quite clearly so since she's always turning around and making motions with her arms in her appearences.: In the Genesis version, there are cases of the flash effect from using a getting stuck on the screen, rendering the game unplayable.: Both the fire spirits and the Frog God can damage Maui by belching at him.: Several spiders show up in the first level, with their boss being a large metallic spider living in the attic.: In the Genesis version, get most of the treasure in a level to get the password to the next one.
In the SNES version, doing this unlocks a bonus level so then you can try to get the password.: Donald is pretty awesome as he is. With a gun and a ninja transformation, then.: In the Genesis version, Cold Shadow can run really fast if you hold A and double-tap to his front. This is only mentioned in a footnote in the manual. Remember this well because you'll really need it in stage 2.: The Mojo Mansion.: A bag of. Zombie Powder is hidden in each level (and bonus levels) of the Genesis version and increases Maui's HP by 50 points.
In the SNES version it appears various times through the levels, but you.: at the end. Maui doesn't actually die, but is crushed and half-buried by the sacred idol.
Hernae shows up and says he'll be posthumously remembered as a hero and get a constellation of himself in the sky, all while Maui is clearly alive and struggling to pull himself out of the floor.: Maui has no dialogue in-game, but he does talk in the manual.: Maui looks around while pointing his gun or checks a map/scroll, but sometimes it's a chicken instead. Cold Shadow just turns around twice, or starts spinning his Bo Staff to.: The game over screen shows Maui getting dragged into hell for good. A muddrake appears to briefly mourn him and the background music then plays some mocking.: Stage 4, The Sacrifice Of Maui, takes place in a volcano.: In the second part of the final boss fight, the Witch Doctor will steal all of Maui's weapons and force him into his ninja form.: Thanks to the color pallete, a couple of levels in the SNES version feel less morbid. Is changed to something funny.: For some reason, this tune plays during the ending cutscene in the SNES version.: The Witch Doctor will use his mask as a shield during the final clash.: The Witch Doctor wears a creepy mask. And there's no head under it!.: Hernae, the apprentice shamaness who appears to Maui several times during the course of the story.: In the battle against the Muddrake Gladiator, you can knock off the other muddrakes' loincloths. They will bashfully shuffle over, pull them back on, and continue fighting.: Done in the manual.: From the 6th stage on we have Ghost Pirates, Will'o the Wisps and zombies as enemies.: Cold Shadow and his clones.: The game's boss fights and platforming are above-average in difficulty, and there are limited continues.: Although you'd think the 'Cold Shadow' part of the title in the SNES version refers to Maui in ninja garb, he actually isn't ever named in-game and both versions of the manual simply refer to him as 'Ninja Maui'.
Some other characters are also unnamed.: The people of the island distrust Maui because of something he's done in the past, but we're never told what it is. Peharps the cancelled sequel would have explained those events.: The first boss in the Genesis version is vulnerable in his startup animation, so you can kill it with the homing + lightning attack. There's also the third form of the fourth boss: just drop a to kill it. In the SNES version, while the final boss has powerful, hard to dodge attacks, you can simply let yourself be hit by (which does only 1 HP of damage) and then abuse the.: Used by the Genesis, SNES and PC versions. The two releases of the Genesis version use different sets of passwords (only ININJA is the same on both) and the PC version uses the Brazilian set.: Piranha fish will often try to bite at Maui as they jump from the water. If Maui falls into piranha-infested waters, a series of biting sounds will be heard and he'll fly out of it, screaming in pain and with less life.:.
The stages involving swinging around as Cold Shadow tend to be very demanding. The bonus Babaluau Baby stages in the Genesis version have Maui riding on a unicycle that's deliberately hard to control. The SNES version instead has very tall platforming areas that despite lacking any hazards are intentionally confusing to explore.: Quackoo, the former Muddrake shaman and likely Hernea's master, is already dead when you find him, but you still have to recover his soul in a jar from the Flying Duckman and bring it back to the Realm of the Dead where it belongs.: There's a melody that is part of nearly every theme in the game.: The Brazilian release of the version had a few little things the European version didn't, such as some that played when the played died in stage 1 or 2.

Guide NotesPlease note that this guide is ONLY meant to get you through the game itself. Itwill not guide you to all the treasures (you never need all of them to advanceto the bonus level anyway). If I find the time to do so, I will try to put aguide up covering locations of several treasures (I have only achieved the 100%mark for The Realm of the Dead). I may point out ways you can go when the pathsplits (as it does a few times in Mojo Mansion Stage 4), but otherwise, the truesecrets are yours to discover. Note that for the first few levels, you should beable to fulfill the Luau Loot requirement without going off the beaten path.Passwords will not be revealed in this FAQ, as they can already be found in theCodes & Secrets section for this game on GameFAQs.
This guide is for the SNESversion only, the PC version contains substantial differences (such as theNinja's Yin Yang power usage and actual level design).3. Tips for playing the game3.1 Playing as Maui MallardMaui carries a little bug shooter. I've seen up to 2 different types of bugs(apart from the standard shot) that he can collect.
He can combine both bugtypes to create a super shot, but be advised that it will take ammo from bothmeters. I usually stick with his standard shooter (he has a limit of 50, but itsteadily refills while he is not firing).
Maui cannot scale between walls, swingfrom the duck heads, or enter the duck statues. Maui cannot hurt certainenemies. Note on the bug shooter: If Maui is using it for propulsion (in thewater in The Flying Duckman or in the greenish areas of The Realm of the Dead),it will not expend ammo while he is firing.
This is quite useful in somesituations (note that it applies if he's in one of those areas, but on theground).3.2 Playing as the NinjaIf you have Yin Yang power, press X to transform into Maui's alter ego, theNinja. The Ninja wields a staff and can use it to strike enemies. If you makemultiple strikes without resting, 10 Yin Yang will be used with each additionalstrike. Pressing L or R will make the Ninja spin in that direction (allowing apotential for many hits on an enemy), but the Ninja's Yin Yang power will bedrained very quickly. The Ninja can have up to 999 Yin Yang power. If he uses itup, he will not revert back to Maui, but he cannot make multiple strikes untilhe has enough power to do so (if his power drops below 150, it will steadilyregenerate while he is in Ninja form).
The Ninja cannot climb anything (exceptwalls by scaling them if they're narrow enough), nor can he use the little hooksin the Test of Duckhood (that grab Maui by his shirt and toss him up).4. Powerups4.1 Bug ShootersThere are two different types of Bug Shooter powerups. Each of them has an ammometer. I'm not sure if they have a limit (I don't pay attention to them becauseI never use them unless I'm bored). The white one shoots three white balls on anarrow arc from Maui. The orange one fires an orange ball that seeks out thenearest enemy. The combined shot will fire a white ball to seek the nearestenemy.4.2 PunchMaui seems to like this stuff.
It comes in two sizes: small and large. The smallglasses will refill Maui's life by 25. The large jugs will fully refill Maui'slife. Note that this applies to the Ninja as well.4.3 Yin YangThese powerups are necessary for Maui to transform into the Ninja.
Maui gets 8standard Yin Yang powerups soon after entering the Ninja Training Grounds. Thestandard Yin Yangs are worth 25 and the orange Yin Yangs will increase thenumber of strikes the Ninja can make at once (as well as providing 100 more YinYang power).4.4 TreasureThis doesn't increase Maui's or the Ninja's capability, but it does make a steptoward attaining the Luau Loot requirement. As you pick up treasure, theindividual% for the current stage will be displayed. You won't see the total%for the level until you are between stages (the Luau Loot requirement itemchanges to Loot Found after Stage 1).4.5 Life BagThis is a very valuable item. Be sure you pick it up if you find it.
This willadd 50 points to Maui's life total and will add those 50 points to his currentlife. Very handy, especially in Stage 2 and 3 of The Test of Duckhood (whereMaui plays on the vines). I've seen up to 6 of these in one stage (one of theSacrifice of Maui stages), boosting Maui's life to 400.5. Short Level DescriptionsNote: Luau Loot Requirements are for Normal difficulty. Reduce these percentagesby 5% to attain the Easy requirements. Increase these percentages by 5% toattain the Hard requirements.5.1 Mojo MansionStory:Shabuhm Shabuhm, a powerful Mojo idolHas protected this island for centuries.Tonight the idol is missing.Last reported sighting.Luau Loot Requirement: 50%This level consists of 5 stages running through a mansion environment.
You willnot find Yin Yang power here, as Maui does not yet see a reason to use his Ninjacapabilities. There is treasure aplenty, and you might have a hard time findingit all (max I've gotten is 96%), but you should have no problem satisfying theloot requirement. Life bags can be found somewhat frequently though, and thereis plenty of punch to go around. Hitting the water bottom will cause 1 point ofdamage (this is very lenient compared to what other areas will do) This levelmay be an introduction to Maui's use throughout the game.5.2 Ninja Training GroundsStory:Giant metal spider?
Creeping ghost butlers? This thing could be deeper than anyone guessed.Might be time for a change of costume.Luau Loot Requirement: 55%This level is primarily made to introduce the capabilities of the Ninja. Mauiwill be of no use here, as he cannot harm the enemies, or advance in many areasof the level. In the early beginning of Stage 1, Maui receives 8 Yin Yangpowerups (the small variety) from the Witch Doctor (maybe so he can get Maui inNinja form and steal some of his power?) There is no such boost in the otherstages. Ending up in the pits will cost one life.5.3 Muddrake MayhemStory:In the darkest heart of the island, there lives a band of tiny warriorsWho have always carried a torch for Shabuhm Shabuhm. They'd probably like to have a stuffed Maui mounted on their wall.Luau Loot Requirement: 60%This is the first level to combine the Ninja and Maui effectively (Level 2 wasmeant to be played as the Ninja only, and the PC version of this game makes itimpossible to do otherwise). You will be switching between the two forms often, both to progress through the level and find some secrets. The Muddrakes here areslightly annoying, but easily beatable.
Just keep an eye out for their weapons. If Maui gets caught in the mud pits, it will have the same effect as hittingspikes in the Ninja Training Grounds.5.4 Sacrifice of MauiStory:A muddrake alliance has been forged. Not.The muddrakes have a custom. If you survive their coliseum,They bestow upon you the ultimate honor.Luau Loot Requirement: 65%Come on in to the arena and have some fun! Honestly, this area is quiteannoying. You may find yourself getting tossed up as you were trying to get sometreasure down below. Stage 2 is quite weird here.
You'll have to see it foryourself.5.5 Test of DuckhoodStory:'Maui, I was wrong about you.' 'You've answered every test of greatness that can be asked of a duck.' 'But now, you must make peace with the muddrakes,For only they know the true path to Shabuhm Shabuhm.' 'You must pass their ritual of proof.' Luau Loot Requirement: 70%This level contains some nice music (well, that's IMO anyway). Stage 1 has Mauiswapping between his form and the Ninja, Stages 2 and 3 are swinging vine stages(have fun on these), Stage 4 is 1/2 vine swinging and 1/2 going on foot.5.6 The Flying DuckmanStory:'Great warrior, you have appeased the object of our terror and awe. 'In thanks I say only Quackoo, our mystic chieftan can divine.'
'.the location of the missing idol Shabuhm Shabuhm.' 'Alas, Quackoo is dead.' 'His remains rest on the bottom of the sea.'
Luau Loot Requirement: 75%Yeesh. Probably the most annoying level in the entire game. Stage 1 isn't sobad, but you'll be racing to get done in Stage 2 as the ship is slowly comingapart. There are quite a few treasures to be had once you figure out how to usethe iron balls attached to tables effectively.5.7 Realm of the DeadStory:Quackoo's spirit is restless. Aren't they all.Only by returning him to his final resting place. Can Shabuhm Shabuhm finally be located.Luau Loot Requirement: 80%Steep loot requirement. There is plenty of treasure to be found (Stage 1 hasmost of it, with 95-97% of the total).
Enemies are plenty, while there aren'tmany punch containers or Life Bags. You may or may not end up attaining the lootrequirement of this level. Expect to frequently switch forms in Stage 1. Fallingin the pits (Stage 1) or having Quackoo's spirit removed from the screen (Stage2) will cost one life.
Pay close attention to Quackoo's spirit during Stage 2.5.8 The Mojo StrongholdStory:'Quackoo has revealed the location of Shabuhm Shabuhm.' 'Even now, the Witch Doctor seeks to cast it into the storm.' '.in a vile attempt to harness its mojo energy.' 'Maui, you have become a true ninja. You no longer need the Yin Yang power totransform.' 'The fate of the island rests in your hands.right now in.' No RequirementAs noted in the story, Maui can remain in Ninja form without having to watch hispower meter.
It will remain at 999 no matter what he does. You'll need to usethe Ninja to complete this level. There are no powerups to be found here (theWitch Doctor will dispense some punch however).6.
Boss Strategies6.1 Mojo Mansion - Giant Metal SpiderThis guy isn't too terribly hard. Wander to the center of the stage area and itwill drop down. It's first phase will involve it wandering back and forth in thearea. Hit it 5-6 times (easy, stand at the left edge of the stage and justshoot). After it loses its legs, it will hop around the screen. Take pot shotsat it, but watch out for the little bugs it will drop into the area.
It willdrop an extra life when it is defeated.Rewards:Phase 2: Extra Life6.2 Ninja Training Grounds - Ninja ArcThis boss (or group of bosses I should say) is somewhat difficult. It has 6attack phases. Phases 1 and 2 will spit out one Ninja to face Maui.
Phases 3 and4 will spit out a pair of Ninjas to face Maui (note that he must be in Ninjaform). The Ninjas will increase by 1 hit for each phase (Phase 1 ninjas take 2hits, Phase 2 ninjas take 3 and so on). Phases 4 and 5 are much more difficultthan the first 3.
The ninjas of Phase 4 can launch a lightning attack at Maui.Phase 5 Ninjas will launch a fire attack. Be careful while fighting them. Oncethe first 5 phases are defeated, a spinning grinder will launch.
Hit it 4 timesto take it out and earn an extra life.Note: You can use the arc to get up to the top area where it ejects Yin Yangcoins on occasion. Don't stay up there too long, or you will get hit by a firewave.Rewards:Phase 1: Yin Yang coinPhase 2: Punch GlassPhase 3: Red Yin Yang coinPhase 4: Punch JugPhase 5: Punch GlassPhase 6: Extra Life6.3 Muddrake Mayhem - Muddrake ParadeStage 3 of this level is not just a boss stage.
You will need to make your wayhere. This will be covered in the walkthrough. The Muddrakes love shows like this. A group of them will come toward you in oneof their little float-like things. Destroy this to release 3 Muddrakes.
Mauimust aim for them. The ones aiming for Maui in the stands can be taken out withone shot. The ones on the ground require 2 shots.
The first shot will cause themto lose their pants, at which they will put them back on. Maui must completethis 3 times to proceed.Rewards:Extra LifeThe Sacrifice of Maui has no boss. Like the Realm of the Dead Stage 2, Stage 3of this level is hard enough without having to fight a boss as well. Some mayargue the enemy near the end of Stage 1 is a boss, but I don't really think itis. It virtually requires no strategy on my part (just sit, duck and shoot), butthat may be the amount of life I had while fighting him. The enemy also doesn'thave a stage devoted to it like the other bosses do.6.4 Test of Duckhood - The FrogVery interesting boss. The goal is not to destroy him (it's impossible), but toget him to eat all 8-10 of the muddrakes on top of the ledges.
Maui cannot harmthem directly (he can't get up there), so the only recourse is to make the frogeat them. When a muddrake is on the edge of the lower platform, shoot the frog, and it will eat the muddrake. Get back quickly, as the frog will burp a streamof bones (ewww, that's nasty!) and at times an item (a Life Bag will be given atthe 3rd muddrake) will come out too.
The idea of Maui drinking a punch that thefrog burped up doesn't sound too sanitary, but it's a good idea to grab it ifyou're taking hits (the muddrakes up top can still attack). Once all themuddrakes are eaten, Maui will advance.6.5 The Flying Duckman - The PirateThis battle occurs just outside the ship (unlike the previous stages of thelevel which were inside the ship). Maui must defeat the pirate head by shootingit.
It takes several hits (20?) to go down. It will be tossing projectiles atMaui during this time.
Obviously, Maui can only hit it if its head is above theship's side.Note: The Realm of the Dead has no boss, but the challenge of Stage 2 shouldsuffice.6.6 The Mojo Stronghold - The Witch DoctorThis is a very hard battle (it's the final battle, what did you expect?). Mauihas unlimited Yin Yang power, so feel free to use it (watch it though, you canbe hurt badly if you are careless).
In the first phase of the battle, Maui mustmake his way up to each side and destroy the crystal orbs. If Maui goes abovethe height they are at or attempts to enter the center of the arena while theyare still functional, he will be killed. Once both crystals are destroyed, Mauican enter the center of the arena. The Witch Doctor utilizes lightning and fireattacks (in the same manner as the Phase 5 ninjas of the Ninja Arc boss), butwill also kick Maui to the other side (causing 20 damage) if he gets too close. The Witch Doctor also teleports from edge to edge.
He takes quite a beating(maybe 20-25 hits) before he'll go down. The Levels7.1 Mojo MansionStage 1:Shoot the clock to score a Life Bag. Run into the bookshelf and watch Maui fliparound (it's interesting how the feathers fly here). Grab the treasure here, scale the vine above the duck head to score some more treasure (you need tostand on the duck head to be able to reach it). Watch the wind out here.
Go intothe bookshelf to come back inside. Watch out for the ghost butler on the path.Jump onto the dumbwaiter to move down to the basement area. Run over the littleduck head to save your spot here (you are returned here if you die). Scale thechains above the fish, being careful not to let them bite you (it's painful).
Onthe next ledge, shoot up at the tube to drop a platform down that will enableyou to reach the treasure up above. Move over across the water and be careful tonot get hit by the green stuff shooting out. Grab the bug ammo if you dare (youneed to stand on top of the pot to do so). Cross the next section, being carefulnot to get nailed by the pipes coming down (Maui has a creative smashedanimation if he gets splatted).
The fireplace will take Maui back up to the mainarea of the mansion. Once there, pop the duck head. Use the fan to get up to thehigher ledges. Go left to score a Life Bag and a few treasures. Take the punchif you need it on the way back. There is a large jug of punch down below in theclock area (you passed it on the other side of the wall earlier). If you falloff or go for the punch down below, use a ledge at the other side of the fans toget up there (this requires coordination to score all of the treasures).
Thereis nothing on the top ledge above the final bookshelf. Go through it to completethe stage.Stage 2:Take a detour to the left to score some white bug ammo and a Life Bag.
Runacross the platforms. Maui must time his jumps to avoid the water, as theplatforms will fall quickly after being stepped on. The bookshelf takes you up 3floors.
Step on the yellow areas of the ground to make the little turning objectmove over to the left side (watch out for the spikes it shoots!). Once the noisestops, you know that it is as far as it will go. Use it to get up to the top.Time your jump just right to score punch, a diamond and a Life Bag. Thebookshelf transfers Maui up to the top level of this area.
Feel free to stand onthe yellow platforms to advance the turntable, but keep an eye for the crushingpipes. It is advised you are not at the beginning, as there is no warning there. You need not worry about the spikes on this one, as it is a little lower thanMaui is. Cross it, kill the bug and pop the duck head, and hit the bookshelf(see about getting the trinket on the other side first).
Cross over to the nextturntable obstacle. You must step on the first yellow platform first because itis on the other one. Score a Life Bag immediately above, and hang to the rightfor another and more treasure (you should be at 300 max life if you've gottenall the bags right now). Move to the lower of the two ledges to pick up a punchjug and treasure. Take the upper ledge to the bookshelf that leaves here.Stage 3:This stage is dark, but it is very straightforward. Simply run to the right, pausing to pick up loot as necessary. Shoot the first clock you see to drop 2platforms (be careful where you're standing, Maui could get nailed).
It willalso yield a punch glass. Shoot the second clock to drop 2 platforms (indifferent spots than the first clock did) to reach the ammo (and get a punchglass). The bookshelf at the end of the area will take you out of here.Stage 4:You can't go right at this time, so hang left. Watch out for the ghost butler. The bookshelf takes you up a few floors.
Using the dumbwaiter in the next spotis a bad idea if you want to get treasure, so use the fans to go up and left.Use the ledges and fan to get up to the very top (of this little area) and scoretreasure. Hang right and down a bit (then go left).
After plopping down a secondtime, hang right again. A punch jug and some treasure awaits down here. Watchout for the pipes out of the tubes. The bookshelf takes you to the top of thearea. If you had taken the dumbwaiter (for some strange reason), you would endup just above this area, simply drop down and hit the bookshelf. Once out ofthere, pop the duck head to your left.
Head all the way over to the right andtake the dumbwaiter (you have no other choice). Hop on the fans (don't take thetube) to score some treasure. You need to jump from about 3/4 up the rope to hitthe fan. Hop over the hole to gain an extra life. If you took the tube, youended up below this little area.
Once down, pop the duck head (taking the tubemakes Maui hit the duck head) and head right. Grab the treasure and head downthe chain (jump off it to the right, there's no way you can reach the fans fromit). Head on the fans from the little platform for some treasure (careful, it'seasy to miss like I did while writing this). Thankfully, if you do miss thefans, you won't miss the Life Bag a little later on. Head over to the left untilyou reach the piano for maximum treasure. Scale the chain and be careful of theghosts.
Grab the treasure to the right, head to the left and pick up the ring tothe left of the dumbwaiter. Pop the duck head and hit the organ (I haven't founda way to snag the ring on the left of it, if you can, please let me know how soI can post it here). Scale the organ pipes (weird how Maui does this). On thethird complete row of pipes, hit the center pipe to get boosted above to thelast ledge area.Stage 5 is the boss stage. This is covered in the Boss Strategies.7.2 The Ninja Training GroundsStage 1:Head to the right, grabbing treasure as you go (you can't go up and left justyet). After a little bit, the Witch Doctor will appear, drop 8 Yin Yang coins onMaui, change him into the Ninja, and steal some power from him. Go back to theleft and grab the stuff you missed earlier.
Heading back to the right, defeatthe Ninja and grab the Life Bag. Get the Ninja swinging on the duck head and useit to swing to the left.
Head over the faces to the left, defeating the Ninja onthe third one. Use the duck head to get up on top of the ledge. Swat the snake-like face to gain 3 Yin Yang coins and a Red Yin Yang coin. The jump to the nextduck head is quite far, so make sure you're close to the ledge end.
You'll reachthe first statue here. One at a time, two ducks made of hay will attack youhere. Hit each of them twice (you can time it) to free up the statue. Once inthe statue, head to the right, smashing columns as you go. Once you get ejectedand reach the ground again, swing from the duck head and scale the walls (Mauican't do this while he is falling from the statue). Hit the snake head to get 3more Yin Yang coins and a Red Yin Yang coin. Once you hit the ground again, thewall to the right will open.
Head over there and stand still on the teleporterto reach a secret area. Contents: 5 Yin Yang coins, 2 treasures, 1 Life Bag.Time your jumps over the disappearing platforms here to reach the duck head (youneed not jump from the third platform, use the second one if you need to). Thejump is far, but get over there quickly and grab the next duck head with Maui'sstaff. Once back out of the secret area, use the duck head to jump above theNinja coming toward Maui, and hit another snake head. Use the duck heads tocross the gap (go down below for a bit for some treasure).
You need to make afar jump to get over to the final ledge. Moving left from there, you'll seeanother statue, this time 3 hay ducks will attack (one at a time again). Crossall the way over to the left. Once all the columns are smashed, the whole levelwill drop a bit. Once the statue is completely at the left, it will eject Maui.Scale the walls up a bit. Drop down to the right of the top and go right toreach another teleporter. Grab the treasure and the Yin Yang coins.
A punch jugis to the right of the teleporter. Back on top, go over to the right and scalethe walls up. DON'T TAKE THAT TELEPORTER YET! Go left, swinging on the duckheads to get some more treasure. Return back, and NOW take the teleporter.Small note: with this path, I only got 92% of the treasure here.
